Hi Friends,

Simply a note of encouragement to sell or donate Pancake Day tickets and to sign up to help. This fundraiser is vital to fund our club's budget. I would also note that if you are inclined to promote a particular Kiwanis activity at Pancake Day do so- but don't show up that morning and expect Doug or anyone else to do it. Committees need to decide what and how they would like to advertise their projects. Now is the time to do this. It is also time to consider Gaynor Watson and his raw Pancake Day humor. Can anyone top him this year? Consider it a challenge.

  2. To gain a true appreciation for Gaynor Watson, one must spend an hour or two with him behind the hot pancake grills. Despite the harsh conditions of the heat radiating off the grills and the effort required to hustle a huge pail of batter - GW is there like it is a night at the Improv. For pancake tending Kiwanians, it is a vulnerable postition to be in. Kiwanians are captive to the important task at hand- preparing the pancakes. One's vulnerability is exposed when GW starts to unload his one liners. You cannot escape it. You have to maintain your composure while doling out the pancakes, batter- or whatever you are doing. GW can really make a person laugh. This is his night to perform and he will be on his game. I am not witty enough to spar ligitimately with him. I encourage others to take it on. Don't miss it! It is one of the less highlighted components of Pancake Day- Yet one of my most favorite.
